A wonderfully sweet treat!
Pre-heat oven to 425°.
Combine butter, white sugar, brown sugar, water, cinnamon, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat.
Bring to a boil and then set aside.
After about 5 minutes of cooling pour the mixture over the apple slices and mix thoroughly.
Roll out one pie crust to fit a 9 inch pie pan. Place bottom crust in pie pan.
Pour the apple filling over the bottom crust in the pan.
Roll out the second crust into a 10 inch circle Cut into 8 (one inch wide) strips.
Weave the pastry strips one at a time into a lattice pattern.
Folds the ends under the edge of the bottom crust and crimp to seal.
Brush the milk over the top of the pie crust lattice evenly.
Bake in the pre-heated oven for 15 minutes.
Reduce temperature to 350° and bake for 35-40 minutes or until apple filling is bubbling. Allow to cool completely before slicing.
